Guide for dealing with the DPD parcellabel specification
After more than 15 years, it has become necessary to take account of the rising parcel volumes and changes in the System. Therefore DPD and primetime released a modern parcellabel specification. These documents contain all the information for the creation of the parcellabels, as well as the orderdata.
Please switch to the new parcellabel and orderdata standards until 01.01.2023.
To make the transition as easy as possible, we offer the following variants for your optimal implementation:
Option 1: WEB.Service
We provide our free WEB.Service that you can use to integrate all of the necessary steps in your existing processes.
- free web service (SOAP or REST)
- Preparation of the parcellabels as PDF, ZPL and EPL
- Creation of the self book list
- Searchinterface for printed parcellabels
- Reprint- and cancellation function
- On Request: Routing
- automatic transmission of order data
Option 2: WEB.omat
The free Software WEB.omat is running under Windows from Windows 7 and in different modes of operation for the automation of label printing.
- free Software for local Installation
- Creating parcellabels as PDF, ZPL, or EPL
- Creation of the self book list
- Program interface for manual operation
- Automatic data acquisition and automatic label printing
- Mode order processing allows you to print on-demand
- Adaptation to customer-side interface
Option 3: In-House Solution
Of course, we continue to offer the possibility to implement label printing, list printing and the transfer of order data on your side.
- high effort on the customer side

- Implementation Orderdata
- Seamless Integration into your process
- No dependencies on third parties
Changes with the new shipping label specification
The new parcellabel specification for the DPD and primetime shipping includes a number of Changes. The key points we have listed here for you. In the implementation of a proprietary solution, all points must be implemented in accordance with the specifications.
Label layout
The new parcellabel must correspond to a clearly defined Design. The arrangement of the various items of information is given, as well as the font sizes. A deviation is not possible.
New on the parcellabel is the Aztec Barcode. In the two-dimensional Barcode nearly all of the informations from the order data are encoded. The Aztec-Barcode is used for the manual entry of data, if the orderdata are not available in time.
The Routing is extended to include various types of information. The Business Unit is specified in the route string.
The 28-digit Barcode remains unchanged. Only the service code is in the future, replaced by the SO-Code.
Route process
The existing route process is completely redesigned. The base is a single file that contains all of the information. The algorithm for the determination of the Route must be completely re-developed. As a new input and output parameter, the Business Unit is added.
The route database has been released three times per year. The new System provides shorter intervals for short-term reactions to new requirements. Therefore, it is necessary to check daily on a new route database, and, where appropriate, to immediately use.
Order data
The anticipatory data have become more important in recent years. Complete order data in good quality, enable Geocoding and thus an improvement in the quality of Delivery. The goal is to get data for each each package in time.
For this reason, the order data in the new specification is mandatory. The data must arrive at DPD or primetime before the packages, but may not be transferred for more than 4 weeks prior to the parcels. The structure of the data has fundamentally changed. The new Format also needs to be implemented.
